Nikon D90 or D5100

Hi everyone.

I'm having a big dilemma in regards to DSLR's. I've decided to follow Nikon instead of canon. Some background. I've done and studied photography before and used to have an old Pentax SLR.

I've decided to start and head into the DSLR field. Now I'm deciding whether to get a Nikon D90 or the Nikon D5100. I'll be mainly of course using it for photos and not so much for videos, just there as a backup.

I've read alot of reviews for both and both have good and bad points. The D90 was my first choice and still partly is because it is a intermediate DSLR, has good reviews and is a well trusted work horse. The bad is that it is getting old (2008) and the newer D5100 has more specifcations and features.

The D5100 is newer, higher specs and more features. The bad is that it is a entry level DSLR therefore build isn't as good and no AF motor in the body.

I checked out the ISO tests for both and the D5100 for an entry level DSLR does an amazing job even at ISO 6400  Image quaility for both seem to be on par, maybe even abit more to the D5100 because of the new sensor and the ability to get 14 bit RAW.

I'm hoping to get some help for some outiens since there are a few photgraphers here (Omega :headbang:).

Let me know which one is better or you would prefer. Thanking you in advance.:)

Actually my friend is getting the D7000 and it looks amazing. I'll try it out and it looks like I might even get the D7000.
